Our History
The first travel agency, Ladera Travel Services, was opened by Aurora's Great Grandmother Miriam Rae and Great Uncle John in January 1967. Aurora's Grammie, Sharon D., joined the agency as a teenager. The agency won many awards from companies like United Airlines, Royal Caribbean International, and Princess Cruises. It has maintained many corporate relationships including major universities, an NFL football team, and other global brands. While John and Sharon have never stopped running operations at Ladera Travel, they sold the company in August 2001. Aurora's Daddy bought Ladera Travel back in August 2009 bringing her Great Grandmother's legacy back into the family. Now, John with more than 40 years of experience, Sharon with more than 30 years of experience, and a host of other experienced Travel Consultants, continue the family business and do what they love the most, help others enjoy travel as much as they do.
Why use us?
The most common question I am asked is "Do people really use a travel agency when there is so much available on the Internet?" There is too much information on the Internet and much of it is conflicting. We have SPAM filters, but we do not have TRUTH filters. Our computers are hooked directly into the airlines and suppliers. If you can find it on the Internet, it appears on our systems as well, but we also know the discounts available or who is having a sale. The most common complaint I hear about the prices you see on the Internet is that they rarely include the hidden fees and taxes. The final price is never what they showed you first.

Another question is "What are the benefits of using a travel agency?" An experienced Travel Consultant is giving you a service, and our Travel Consultants are experts. Let us use a cruise as our first example. The reason why there are so many different pricing options on a cruise is not just related to the size of cabin. The deck the cabin is located on or whether the cabin is more fore or aft of the ship can change your experience on the ship. If you are traveling where the waters a rougher, your Travel Consultant may suggest a different cabin than when you are sailing in smoother waters. If your trip contains air travel and a volcano erupts or your flight was delayed because the plane did not arrive due to a terror threat, your Travel Consultant is only a phone call away. We have seen flights appear and had our clients ticketed before anyone standing in line at the airport knew a flight became available. Service and expertise are the two main reasons to use a reputable travel agency.
